Robert Stallworth AKA Sonchild, formally known as D.O.G was born and raised in Saint Louis, Missouri. No stranger to the streets, Sonchild lived in the slums of the STL. Being one of four children raised by a single parent in a project environment, he started life with an unfair advantage which is the story for most urban families. But his mother saw the need to enroll him into a Visual Performing Arts school partly to escape the environment and violence in which he lived in. He attended Shaw Visual Performing Arts school as well as Marquette Visual Performing Arts school. He took Piano, Vocal music and Band and was advanced in all three classes. He also attended school for music appreciation. At the age of 15, Sonchild produced his first track entitled “Dangerous”. It was a street anthem at the time elaborating on his life and the life of his peers. By the Age 21 he produced his first commercial song entitled “Cuttem up STL style” which he sold 2,000 copies in the first month out of his own hands. This record helped him to get a position at D2 Entertainment; An independent record label based out of Saint Louis, Missouri. Some of the artists they produced and put out include The Saint Lunatics, Pretty Willie and the Frontline. D.O.G. Came in as a beginner in the business and learned the business first hand during that time. The first artist he produced was Skurquro from the group Frontline. He produced 85% of the record along with LS Bless. Skurquro's first single “Dont scuff my shoes” was the club anthem in Sain Louis, Gaining recolonization everywhere. It received radio airplay and is sold on soundclick.com to this day. Sonchild also worked with other artists which include but not limited to Young Spiffy from Slot-A-Lot records, Lady Shika, Childish and Cash and has also worked with other producers such as Pretty Boy. The thing that fuels Sonchild the most is that he is a determined Artist/Producer who has kept up his unique style, evolving while he can produce any genre of music. With a commercial sound and style he also understands the competition of the music industry. Sonchild is currently looking for a label by which he can express himself and continue to grow in his artistry, Saying “Escaping the streets is one thing, but escaping art in which I was given is impossible”. That the streets he is not, but the music he is forever, and no matter how much he goes through trying to express his art nationally, He will always continue to strive.
